What’s happenin’ @ the library

Thanks to The Polka Dots for a lively set on Saturday, September 12th. Their self-proclaimed “new blue oldtimey jazzy gypsy swing” filled the library and had patrons swayin’ in their seats. Did you miss the fun? Catch them September 24-26 in Berryville at the Watermelon Park Festival. Or become a fan of the band on Facebook and you can watch video clips of their library performance.

It’s time for 1 book 1 community. Stop by the library and pick up your FREE copy of The Wall: Growing Up Behind the Iron Curtain, a graphic memoir appropriate for young readers and adults. After you’ve read The Wall, join us on Tuesday, October 20th @ 7pm for a book discussion here in Lovettsville, and go to the Rust Library on Thursday, October 22nd @ 7 pm to hear the author speak and sign books.

Our next Teen Wii Wednesday is September 16th @ 4:30 pm. We’ll be gaming and snacking for an hour or so.

Teens are invited to come to the Virginia’s Reader’s Choice book club meeting on Thursday, September 17th @ 7:30 pm. We’ll be discussing Fortunes of Indigo Skye by Deb Caletti and having snacks.

Join us Wednesday, September 23rd @ 4pm for a Fairy Tea Party (ages 3-11). Wear a costume…fairies, princesses, knights, gnomes, and the like are expected to make an appearance. We’ll enjoy stories, songs, rhymes, a craft, and snacks. You can preregister online.

A new Guys Read! book club is meeting for the first time on Thursday, September 24 @ 4pm. The Guys (ages 9-12) are reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for this meeting. You can preregister online.

Our annual booksale is being held during town’s Octoberfest, Saturday, September 26th. Join us @ noon in the cul-de-sac for a performance by Funny Guy Paul Hadfield.

Wear your pjs to the library on Tuesday, September 29th @ 7pm for bedtime stories, songs, and other fun.
